On Sep 20, 2020, Payal Ghosh came out publicly during an interview with IANS, where she accused Anurag Kashyap of sexually harassing her. Ghosh had alleged that Anurag Kashyap got naked in front her, in his house, asked her to remove her clothes as he wanted to see her body, for which she replayed Sir, I am not comfortable. But Anurag Kashyap said allegations are baseless, Radhika Apte and Taapsee Pannu supported Anurag.

In the same year, She debuted as an Actress in the 2008’s BBC Telefilm Sharpe’s Peril, where she played the role of a village girl, who is the daughter of a Bengal revolutionary freedom fighter. In 2009, she debuted in Telugu movie Prayanam; opposite Manchu Manoj. She has also appeared in the Telugu films Mr. Rascal and Oosaravelli, both films are box office flop.
