Biography

Anushka Shetty was born on 7th November 1981 (Age 43 Old; in 2024) in Puttur, Mangaluru, Karnataka. Her original name is Sweety Shetty. Anushka is an ethnic Tuluva from Karnataka; Anushka completed Schooling in Bangalore. She pursued a Bachelor of Computer Applications at the Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.

Anushka worked as a yoga teacher under her yoga guru Bharat Thakur, who suggested her to try her luck in the entertainment field.

In the early days of her career, she played Glamour roles in movies such as ‘Billa’ and ‘Super.’ She has won several awards throughout her career, including three Filmfare Awards.

Career

In 2005, she made her big-screen debut in the Telugu film, ‘Super‘. In the same year, her next movie ‘Mahanandi,’ an action/drama film directed by Samudra, which was average. Later in 2006, she starred in the S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘Vikramarkudu‘, alongside Ravi Teja, which was a huge commercial hit. In 2006, she made her debut in a Tamil film as lead in the movie ‘Rendu‘, which was directed by Sundar. In the following years, she appeared in several movies including ‘Lakshyam’ (2007), ‘Love Don’ (2007), and ‘Souryam’ (2008). She has also done a special appearance in Telugu songs like “I was want a Spider Man” of film Stalin (2006), “Nuvvu Ready Nenu Ready” of film King (2008), and Kedigaadu of lm Kedi (2010).

She came to international popularity after she appeared in the 2009 dark fantasy horror lm ‘Arundhati‘, the lm was a huge success commercially and was also praised by most critics. In 2017, she appeared as the main lead in ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion‘, which earned Rs 1,810 crore on a Rs 250 crore budget. In 2019, she played cameo role lm ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy‘, in the role of Jhansi Maharani Lakshmi Bai.
